Hi kklee100!! Welcome to your Gab's Army thread!!
Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here. Also let me know how you think that I can help you and what are your expectations for our job. You can check the other Army's thread to discover the different modalities of this project. The principles of our Army are: + Improve your technique + Make music and solos + Have fun + Destroy the enemy (hahaha not realy just kidding... ) -------------------- My lessons

This lesson sound good. There are three things thaty I will comment. First, I note that your right hand is a bit rigid when you are picking, try to relax it a make the alternate picking movement smoother and from the wrist. The second thin to improve is your vibrato, which is being done mostly from the fingers instead of from your wrist. Finally I note that some bends don't reach the correct pitch... Check this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtsykZjJpTw...mp;feature=plcp This lesson has some timing issues in the fastest riffs and also in the last melodies..... try to practice it at slower tempos until you master the timing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0igUsZrX_uQ...mp;feature=plcp The helloween style lesson sounds VERY good. Onlye the last part could be tighter.... it's a 9.5 for me.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wbs68glJeXI...mp;feature=plcp This one also sounds good but need more practice to sound smoother... mostly in the bridge and chorus. -------------------- My lessons

1. It is my take on "Basic metal rhythm guitar" by Marcus Siepen.
I didn't record it with a backing track because of different tuning. Thanx for your comment!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5cyTnZUIqE...mp;feature=plcp 2. I am practicing your German power metal III: Gamma Ray. It is difficult for me because of all down picking at 185 BPM. It is better for me at 160 BPM. Do you have any suggestion? Thanx!! Your take sound consistent most of the time. The rhythm that needs some more practice is the galloping, I think that you lose your timing and precision on that section. Then I note some power chords in which only sound 1 string, but it's nothing too serious... the overall is very good. Regarding the down picking, turn on a metronome or program a drum loop and practice it every day.... the only secret is practice. If you want, you can post a short video playing some down picking riffing to check your right hand movement. -------------------- My lessons

I slow it down to 95% of original speed. Hope I can advance to full speed later. |

Hello Gab, I am practicing Stratosphere by Stratovarius recently. It is very fast to me. But I love their neoclassical style. And I want to build my speed. Do you have any lessons for me to practice? Thanx!! That sounds great! Hi mate, the lesson is sounding well but if I'm not wrong you are starting your Alternate picking movement from your fingers, instead of your wrist. Am I right? Are you moving your fingers?

So I should only move my wrist and keep my fingers fixed? So that is my problem... Exactly! Your movement must come from your wrist and elbow, not from your fingers. This is how you will be able to play consistently and fast. Check Paul's right hand movement: Some tips about alternate picking: • It basically means alternation between downstrokes and upstrokes • It can also help your timing for funk rhythms. • It lets you use your mind to other things since the motion can be automated. • Get in the habit of holding the pick between your thumb and your forefinger. • Keep the exposed area of the pick to a minimum. (for precision) • Try to do the movements the smaller than possible. -------------------- My lessons
