Different Kind Of Picks, Uses And Characteristics, sound and tone Options

Today i would ask to you about different kinds of picks , the uses (genre) , The best of each style whatever....

The idea is that you choose different picks , add the image and give me the uses.

Also i want to know about the different sizes.... medium..... thin..... etc..... give me some examples.

I ask this because i realize that picks change your tone highly.

Yeah I always have a bunch of them in front of me, all jim dunlop;

Stubby; very open sounding on cleans, glides nice for shred.

Ultex jazzlll; terrible cleans, again glides nice for shred but better than stubby if you prefer to hold the pick strong.

Petrucci jazzlll; good overall but best at nothing. Still though I use them most when not recording.

Speedpick; I have the hio, extremely open sound on cleans, good for shred specially if you don't want picking noise on distortion. Angletone if you really want to feel the strings when shredding, maybe useful for clean strumming.

Jazzlll; thick sound on cleans, good for scale runs on shred specially if you want a legato-like flow on scale runs (petrucci sound).

JDjazztones; The 205 sounds excellent/most balanced on cleans with my guitar.

teckpick; Not really sure what its good for

I also have 1-2 Dava picks and don't like them.

If I play something acoustic (which I don't anymore as I've sold my acoustic guitar), I generally go for a thin pick. It seems to give the best sound for me for chords etc.

But if I need to play fast and shred, I feel a Jazz III gives me the best control.

I'm always trying new picks and changing from one thickness to other depending on what I play and also on the guitar and gauge that I'm playing. I like thin picks for acoustic guitar to have a smoother rhythm and strumming. This could be applied to clean styles on electric guitar, like reggae, funk, and things like that. For shredding I like 1.5mm picks, but nowadays, as I'm using thicker gauges I'm starting to use 1.15 or close to it because I feel more comfortable on lower strings for playing metal rhythms and solos.

I think that this decision is completely personal, so what I really recommend you is to go to the music store, get one of each and experiment, practice, record yourself and take your own conclusions.
