Exactly the same here... vintage tremolo. I guess it's from strings going thru the bridge holes... but dunno if it can be fixed. I'm a newbie.

Anyway... you are not alone! smile.gif

Cheers!

I've had a problem with my floyd rose though. Made a very worrying sound when being used. However, it went away with time.

I've heard that rubbing some graphite (read: pencil) on the springs makes it go away. wink.gif

Start by playing something - a bend, a riff, a scale, a song - very slowly; if you make a mistake, start over; do this over and over, until you can play it flawlessly - and I do mean flawlessly - many times in a row. Next, gradually increase the tempo. Eventually you'll be flailing like a madman.

My strings were sticking in the nut once, making a strange noise when I used the whammy or bent too hard and graphite fixed the issue. Make sure the sound isn't coming from the head stock area...

Aren't there supposed to be some springs at the back of your guitar?
Dunno. Haven't looked at a Strat in a long time. laugh.gif

Put some cloth bellow the springs to dampen the sound. Remove the backplate first wink.gif
