Bad news. My Dual Recto died this week. It made a couple of very load pops and belew the fuse. I replaced the fuse and it did it again. Of course it went over 5 years old this year on a five year warranty ;-). I will be taking it in next week to get it fixed but I am considering buying a Stiletto Ace combo as a second amp. I have read all the reviews and it seems to be a great amp.

Anyone on the boards own one? I love my Recto for metal but I am looking for something with a little more tone for the crunch type settings, and a little less power.

I just joined and I am at a low intermediate level. I would like to build on technique to be able to play some of the dark progressive music of bands like Opeth, Katatonia, Dreamtheater, etc. Where do I start? I know I need some finger independence exercises and I have found good ones here. I also have found some good lessons in the "In the Style of" section. Any other sugestions? biggrin.gif

Thanks!

Digging this site and all the great work put into it. I have been playing for awhile but am getting tired of pentatonic riffs so I want to learn something new. I would like to play dark progressive music such as Opeth, Katatonia, Dreamtheater, etc., but I will have to improve technique. Not sure how to build up to that level with limited practice time so I guess I will jump right in with the "In the Style of" lessons along with exercises and go from there. Any recommendations will be appreciated!

A little about me...I am a father of 3, an IT Professional at a Fortune 500 company, and I play guitar in my church's praise band weekly, so I get to experience a variety of styles. They actually let me out of my cage once in awhile at church and let me rip a lead on some contemporary rock or blues style music. I even get to play some funk occasionally. Playing weekly in the church band has improved my chord technique quite a bit since I find myself playing a variety of chords and timings and even augmented and diminished chords on occasion, but it is not the style of music that I really enjoy.

I am looking forward to participating in this community!
