Hello everyone! I'm stopping in to briefly introduce myself. I am an intermediate level guitar player and have been playing on and off for the last 20 years. My influences are: Satriani, Petrucci, old Metallica, amung other bands and players that I have listened to over the years. Lately I have felt that my playing was stale (might be from a lack of a creative outlet since I'm not currently in a band). So I am here to refine my playing, take it to the next level and grow more as a musician and guitar player. My goal is to expand my playing away from the straight up metal and work some funk, blues and jazz into my vocabulary.

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

Matter of fact I play 11s! I played 9s for years and years and have used the name 9gage here and there and no one could ever figure out what it meant except for all of the guitar players lol.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
I had been debating joining for a couple of months now and this was my birthday present to myself!

FYI:
My gear is:
Ibanez John Petrucci model
Ibanez RG 7 string
Ibanez S 7 string
John Suhr (don't remember the model name but it plays like butter)
Washburn Idol
Gibson Les Paul Voodoo
Yamaha Compass (acoustic/electric)
Laney head
Mesa Boogie cabinet
MXR Wylde Overdrive

There's more to list but this is the basics...
