Todd here smile.gif I'm working on a thematic concept for a music project I"m involved in and drawn to a German concept/phrase, "Geist Und Macht" and I wanted to see if some of our German GMCers can help me understand it a bit better.

From my understanding, it can represent quite a bit, from the struggle between spirituality/tradition and technology/progress to the internal struggle between the soul and the mind.

I hope to explore this theme on the first Divinus Mortus set of material In fact I may call the first release Geist/Macht.

Whaddya think?

Todd

the term "geist und macht" also has a political dimension - often there is a difference between the "geist" - the intellectual thinking (often also includes the culture of a society) and the "macht" - the political power. very seldom the "geist und macht" come together (although there were times in history when we spoke of "geist und macht" together.
So "geist und macht" together have a very strong power.....

I'm not German GMC, i speek german a little and as far as i've understood, There is one thing in the world, over which man can exercise absolute control: your own mind (Geist) For example : You can think what you want! You can introduce yourself, what you want! You can strive for what you want! You can want what you want
Without the ability and desire to control your own mind, you will never gain control of your destiny.

Very interesting term. As the guys have already pointed out I think they can have a congruent relationship or it can mean 2 different kinds of force. The spiritual power or the brute force / illusion of the kind of power that money, influence and politics means.

Good Answer woolace03 .

A Good Example the third Reich and his Geist a evil one behind it !

Very interesting what spiritual practice have been behind those more inaugurated People around the Nazis(hope the right word)

Gandhi and his Geist to show a more from the heart way too

The worthwhile thing what we call to be ONE SELF should be called to be Your GEIST .

What means, the totally consciousness from your GEIST to the person - right here now human being you are - without any influences from outside yourself , what means no other GEIST is taking control from YOU !

To have the control over yourself means to know that you are not in your brain - you can use it but always must control it,
with your heart .( of course you are not in your heart too but it is a better gate to your Geist then the brain )

An easy exercise to recognize this is when you think concentrate on your heart and exercise to think from there .
Might take time but time isn`t important.

Ok Geist und Macht

Macht means in this world in first case to control others actually all human beings
what means you have to spread an idea ,a thought into mankind what will create GEIST lets say a strong energy
people get more and more controlled from it brain is programmed now !

Good answer too !

Mankind never can differentiate if this mind is oneself Geist or some other GEIST.Even not if it is good or bad .

A good example Jesus and Satan .

If one is GEIST and looking and recognizing all lets say under himself he oversee all - what means timeless and norm less -

he can do what he wants to with others !

To spread MACHT over the world GEIST is used created from some one who doesn`t know who he is until he uses his heart.

From this point on you start the way to see!

GEIST ist MACHT and needs HEART to use it with regard to the future and sense of responsibility !

Sorry may english it is not easy to say all what i wanna say in an ENGLISH GEIST , hope you understand what i try to say .

Dieter

Wow! Great replies guys! I'm glad to find out that I was sort of on the right path and that the thematic ideas for Divinus Mortus do actually sort of work. I didn't realize that there was so deep a political/spiritual dimension, but that really does work well for the themes too.

I may actually need a bit more help moving forward, you guys RAWKKKK!!!!
