Sonata Arctica - The End of This Chapter. Definetly not one of the hardest ones out there, but it sounds kickass

You can tackle the Hotel California solos perhaps, they are not difficult but have many nice bends, and they are long, so they are a nice treat for intermediate player.

Hmmm.... How bout smoke on the water? The riff might be the easiest thing ever, but the solos more of an intermediate type thing. There's lots of bends, and there are little bursts of speed throughout, but it's really not that hard.

Look at the topic for my guitar... Finished Guitar Build Gear: Homemade strat (You still need to look at its topic!) Squier strat (probably going to get rid of it and get another guitar instead) :) Line 6 spider amp (not actually used for anything, just acts as a speaker) Digitech Gnx2 (kind of old, but cheap, and sounds amazing!) |

There is grunting on that Sonata Arctica song? That guy has an awesome voice. The best song of them, in my opinion ^^ Just a word almost at the beginning, but a powerfull word where grunting really fits in good: "Do you remember? Or did it all go in vain..." Then a bit later: "You can now have all the things I could never give to you Look out the window " cest ´moi"..." Perhaps the solo from Pearl Jam's "Alive". It's pretty long, but doable.

I would say that Stairway to Heaven could be an intermediate solo.
This is the video how one of my ex. teachers plays it. Solo is on the 5th video. -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Don't know why I didn't think of this before, but Guns n' Roses has some of the best Intermediate solos ever, to me Slash was a genius, if you like GnR, check them out.

Maybe some Metallica solos. They sound cool but are not too hard. Some of my favorites are the solos from Master of Puppets, Four Horsemen, and One.

I would say that Stairway to Heaven could be an intermediate solo. This is the video how one of my ex. teachers plays it. Solo is on the 5th video. That's the one I thought of too. Definitely doable for intermediate. I think the best intermediate solo for me is Shine on you Crazy Diamonds by pink floyd. Very long, but so many nice licks, pull offs, great bends and slides, vibrato etc. nothing very fast but very epic sounding. Also Another Brick in the Wall part II is very nice. A bluesier one would be Red House by Jimi Hendrix, love that one too. Also Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits...I could keep going lol |

I originally came to GMC through freelicks.net and always thought that the content there would be expanded here at GMC, but I've noticed GMC doesn't teach any specific solos(Unless there's a hidden menu I'm not seeing). Is there a specific reason for this . Just curious. I thought this had to do with copyright infringement issues. -------------------- "Don't practice until you get it right.
