I sometimes don't bother to change the metronome tempo, so I practice everything in 60bpm, moving along in 8th notes, triads, 16th notes, triads, or do some 5 notes per beat stuff.
I do use 7\8 timings a lot too, because a like macedonian melodies. So i suggest that you derive some practices for 5\4, 6\4, 7\8. It is all good. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

Hey, I read about on exercise on timing. It consists to try to alternate playing: - on the beat for while - then a bit ahead - then a bit behind Do you think it's a good exercise? P. Sure it is!! There are many grooves when you need to push it up while staying it tempo, and also some grooves have to be played at "latest" beat, which is behind. This is really important to "feel" some grooves, when to play ahead and when behind. Along with that,as you said, practice ON beat as well and you'll have it all. -------------------- Youtube
