Well I dont know if theres any theory on this in the Theory Board, but well how do i tell which Key im in using a simple Maj. Pattern!! Is it from the root notes?? or is it from the very first note you play on in the pattern starting from the Low E string, or what?? and the same goes for chords to!! Yep theres a prety good lesson for each for help finding the key of a song go here : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...?showtopic=3160 and this lesson should also help with the chords side of things: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...?showtopic=3630 Remember to thank Andrew!!! |

yea i know, and does that note that you play..so will that be the root note everytime?? The root note will be in a different location for each box - most scale charts mark them in a different colour. The root note is your signpost to understanding how the different boxes fit together. Scales with a sharp (like G#, F#, C#) are exactly the same as any other scales, you just start at a different place on the fret board ... or were you meaning something else? -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

nah i mean like exotic ones, like the people made up ones that sound good, but was made by accident, and the theory came after.... and the complicated ones are the ones that go up differently from it goes down, does that help? Definatley - there are a lot of really wierd sounding exotic scales. They are worth being aware of, but I wouldn't go out and learn them all -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile
