I dunno know what reasons make You other guy's start to play the guitar, but mine was really to get some chicks,

haha.. There were no girls in our school but it just felt cool to know how to play guitar as not many played that instrument nor others.. everybody was you have to study and study.. I just loved music. 
Later when girls were introduced, I was quite popular amongst girls. And I did have few moments with me in the center and all girls around. haha..

Well that may be the reason why I studied guitar for years before bass hehehe

If you want play the guitar only to get girls, you can just study 5 basic chords and then stop studying. So thing nobody here is playing the guitar to get girls.

Those movies are hilarious! I think most people start playing guitar for girls... But I actually started because I wanted to play the music I love

For me, the reason was not that great - I was bored One day I took acoustic guitar and a notebook with chords cause I didn't have anything else to do that day. So I started.. and never got bored again

Well, a lot of guys play guitar for that purpose. In my case I was too young, around 10. My father was a musician and was surrounded with instruments. Initially I wanted to play drums, but my father said NOOOO, too loud, so my second choice was a guitar

PD: I actually never saw it like that, and in my case it hasn't work that much, but ok, sometimes they do want to know you because you play guitar, but most of the times I would say it doesn't matter

Chicks that like guys who can actually play. In a perfect world......Maybe one day. And also At first I just wanted to play the music I loved.. Then it just became so empowering. Its like a whole new form of confidence.

I can honestly say every morning in my house there are five blued eyed blonds and 1 brunette walkin around
sure - the blonds are my daughters and the brunette is my wife

I cannot remember the reason that got me into guitar, except really wanting to play an instrument and my mom wouldn't let me buy a drumkit
