Hi GMC

Today, I made a video of my son
Usually, I use simple "cubase" compressor and reverb - I think that the result is not very good

On this one I add "native instrument Guitar Rig" Compressor and reverb
I feel better tone - What do you think about it ?

How you record an acoustic guitar ?

First of all that was very fun to watch, congrats to your son! I subscribes to his channel smile.gif

Its been a while I recorded but general advice is to aim the mic around 12. fret of guitar and experiment from there. I can hear the room with my headphones on, not much to do about that but the sound hole getting close to the mic. doesn't make things better.

I also quickly checked the other video's, Harry Potter Guitar Medley sounded best to me. Every video seems the mic. is placed different, it better to aviod that and pick the same room and mic. position for every video if possible.

Try inserting an eq first and a gentle low-cut filter from it, listen to boomy bass notes and figure till where to cut the low frequencies. After that adjusting a compressor or reverb will be much easier.

Me or any other member can do the fx for you but its such a personal taste thing and you seem to be knowing the basics so I'd say its better for you guys to handle that part if possible.

Start with around 30cm to experiment, since every mic. (and guitar) is different it honestly a matter of experimentation. Use headphones while your son is playing, it should help the experimentation finish quicker.
