Heh, well I said I'd upload another one and I have. Whilst I'm (again) not entirely happy with my take I do like one thing: I manage to blag my way out of some catastrophic note failures
Whilst this may not be the most challenging technical piece I think it's fair to say that there is a lot more than meets the eye/ear when learning something like this or in this style. There has to be a feel or vibe behind the notes played and each note has to count and have meaning so in someways I find these slower numbers more challenging than some of the shredfest monster tunes out there.
Also, since I use my GT-8 direct into the PC (no amp) I find that I have set the levels up pretty high which makes the guitar "hot to touch", i.e. one slight knock or slide and the axe noisily complains. Without this however I just don't get the same feel on the higher notes and the digital sound is too apparent so playing cleanly with this setting can be tricky - well it is for me anyhow.
I tried a new backdrop too, just in case you thought I was playing in a pitch-black cave somewhere.

Please excuse the cheesy grin towards the end - I don't know why I was so happy with myself since I choked the note!!

Nice take man! I agree with your comment that sometimes this style of playing can be more challenging. You have to make every note, bend and vibrato 100% for everything to fit together right.

You had I great feel for the rhythm placement. I think you should do another take, fix the few notes you aren't happy with and post it for the REC program.

I think it sounded really great just try to fix the bends and vibrato a bit and it will sund awsome

I think in the first part of the lesson you kinda swamped from lick to lick to soon, loosing a bit of feeling, vibrato needs a bit more of work but other than that, it's great...Nice job

Everything has been said already and I pretty much agree with previous comments but must say I really like your take. This style is really difficult to execute with 100% control. It's not about being concentrated on fingers, it's about the blues feel. You need to disconnect from the reality, close your eyes and live the blues That's how you will enter the new world and your notes will come from the heart, not from the guitar neck and fingers.

playing the blues is a black art mate (Or a blue art ) but I liked the take a lot, especially as you have had about two days rehearsal on it!

Agreed. I realised what I did there after listening to it again - I was concentrating on keeping it clean, so consequently the flow is lost. This is sorted now so next take should be better. Thanks for pointing it out



The best advice I've probably ever heard, and definately the most difficult concept to "learn". It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. I've found that listening to how the masters play and really trying to appreciate every nuance can help stir ones feelings and help with musical interpretation when playing. Thanks man but I think I'll be a long time before I'm good enough to put "soul" in to my music. May be one day..

Thanks for all the comments. They've helped and I'll get a better take up soon. Maybe even for the REC thing.
