its been a while since i first tried tronds canon rock before i started on gmc and i wanted to check my progress but since i have my new pod i thought that i would be able to reproduce his tone but im having little luck. he says he uses
Cubase SX 3.0 (Daw)

Toontrack Superior (Drums)

Trilogy (Bass)

Waves SSL (Compressor)

Hardware: Guitar:

Jackson SLSMG

Amp: Marshall JMP-1 (OD 2 channel with gain on 90%, bass and treble on high and

mid almost on zero). The amp is connected straight into my soundcard with no

additional processing.

now he says he doesnt use any other effects but his amp and a compressor so it should be pretty easy to get his tone even thogh my guitar doesnt come close to his but still and i cant get a similar sounds so can anyone help me? what type of amp should i use from the pod or something like that(i have metal and fx freak addons)

Use a modle based on a marshall high gain amp or maybe even a Mesa Boogie Rectifier and then go for a scooped amp setting

Have you tried Trond's preset? (if not, I'm sure he will send it to you). smile.gif

PS. Don't forget that a part of the tone comes from the fingers.

i dont think he uses gearbox, and i dont have anything else, i know some of the tone comes from the fingers unfortunately im not as skilled as trond and probably wont be for the forseable future. anyways i posted in his forum and see what he can do, though i have gotten some progress be using delay and compressor.
btw i use your lead tone as my main lead tone it sounds great and it does greattt rhythm you should really try it for riffing, because i dont have pedal so i need a tone that does rhythm and solo well.

Make a preset with Marshall amp, add some compression (very little), and tweak around, using different cab simulators, and EQ settings, while listening to Trond's sound. This should help in making similar sound.
