It's kind of awkward to try to use GMC forums on a phone. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't all of the common software packages used for forums already have built in mobile support? I think that's why it's unusual to see a forum like GMC with this problem.

I've done it my iphone, with a bitl of zooming in and out. It worked better on the ipad which had a much larger screen. It looks much the same as it does on my laptop when viewing on my mobile devices so I don't think it's a "mobile version" as such, just a mobile looking at a regular site more or less. smile.gif

That's right. Unlike most forum sites, there is no mobile version so it's a real pain to try to use GMC on a phone. Just reading this thread and writing this post was extremely awkward, with lots of zooming in and out and panning. I don't know of any other forum sites that are this awkward to use on a phone.

But I have never tried it. Dunno if Kris would have to sign up for it or apply or whatever.

Agreed.

If you have been following GMC for a while, you know that we have done two previous attempts att rebuilding to a mobile friendly version of the site. We are currently working on the third and hopefully final attempt.

Fixing forum and wiki is indeed easier as it has less custom code. However the biggest priority are lesson pages, lesson player, start page, lesson search etc. This has been urgent for a very long time.

Finger crossed.

Given the prevalence of mobile platforms, I have to think that GMC is heading that direction smile.gif It just makes sense. I don't know when it will happen but it's worth mentioning as a feature request as mobile is how so many folks interact with the web.

Never had a problem with the forum, bit of zooming does the trick. The lessons on the other hand are tricky to manipulate but it is doable wink.gif

Any news on this? Compared to other forums, GMC is downright painful on a phone.

As mentioned here - I do not have an estimation currently. The priority order is to first fix lessons compatibility, and then forum.
