Hi all,
I'm Art Culpepper and at 43 I am learning to play, again. I have to call myself a newbie because I don't play very well. I know a good bit of theory, but my skills are very rusty. I grew up listening to my father play acoustic (folk like Woody Guthrie and old country like Hank Williams). I learned some basic chords and to strum a bit from him, but didn't stick with it.
Years later, I learned a few power chords and made a lot of noise with my first electric. I just picked the guitar up a few weeks ago after literally years of not playing. I still remember a lot of what to do, but I have trouble actually doing it. I need to work on my speed and fluidity. My own tastes run from very melodic acoustic stuff to classic hard rock (like AC/DC, Aerosmith, and G n R), but I also really like punk. I find punk (Ramones, Clash, Sex Pistols, etc.) the most fun to play.
I have two guitars, a Harmony with a humbucker and a Strat copy. I play them both with the same lack of skill.
cheers
