I have looked over the two guitars and they seem quite similar besides the coil tap push pull knob. Is there any other major difference you guys can see?

How the heck did I miss the pickup difference?!

What are X-jumbo frets? Does that mean there is more space between fret wires?

edit: Also, just read on the Schecter forums that the Deluxe has a bolt on neck...not a set neck like the C-1 Hellraiser!! That is a MAJOR difference!

Yep your right Ben. As for the fret's, the X-jumbo is a slightly larger fret wire. Tbh, in some ways I still like the flexibility of a bolt on. If you get to the point somewhere down the road that you would like to try a different feel, you can change it.

So the fret wire itself is wider? Is there an advantage or disadvantage to that?

More preference than anything. They may offer a little more advantage when using heavy string gauge. It's the wire height that's the main difference. Some will say the larger the fret wire, the easier it is for bends and vibrato. String height however will need to be adjusted to accommodate, but not that big a deal.

It's not that important, some people use thicker, some thinner fret wire. What is important is what kind of feel are you searching for. Check out several guitars with different fret wire gauges to see what suits you best.

Imo the thicker frets feel a bit like a scalloped fretboard. You have to be careful not to push down the strings to hard or they'll sound out of tune. On the other hand they make bends easier because the strings don't slip away bellow your fingers. I personally like them quite a bit. But I think the difference between between the jumbo and x-jumbo aren't that big (I've got jumbos on the C-1 Classic and X-Jumbo on the Hellraiser).

Regarding the topic I think id miss the following things here:
- The Pickups, imo the EMG81tw/89 are clearly superior to the original 81/85, I'd miss splitting them quite a lot
- The "Ultra Access" set neck, feels far more comfortable on the highest frets
- The quilted maple top looks far better than the flamed one to me

Now I think an ebony fret board would fit the Hellraiser quite well. Also the binding of the C-1 Hellraiser is a bit too shiny for me (at least most of the time).

Anyway I had to make the same decision and went with the non deluxe hellraiser.
