This year im not having any school or anything (dont even have a job) so i wanted to play guitar more seriously and i found this great site! Regarding effects I would always recommend buying separate stomp boxes to get a high quality sound...On the other hand you have multi effects processor units from boss, line 6 etc that will give you all the effects (but will not sound as good as separate stomp boxeS).. As Emir said, playing with plugins on your computer is probably the cheapest way, there are a few programs out there with plugins that are free, but there is a steep learning curve, if you are not much of a computer guy.
