Make sure you connect the tapped note with the following note on the next string with no gaps. Maybe only concentrate in these two notes until you hear no gaps or noise

Been learning this song too, Hah! Very tough..
Use your picking hand's wrist area/forearm to lie across the thicker strings to mute them and angle your fingers on your other hand to stop the rest of the strings ringing. Good tip from Daniel about the tapping there btw! Make sure that your fingers are strong enough to be able to hammer-on and pull off properly. With enough practice you can judge how hard they should hit the strings to get the note to ring out properly. Just do some quality practice on this lick daily until you get it. Always slowly at first, can't stress that enough! you just need to be patient enough and do it slowly, and wait for the technique to settle in your muscle memory. This would be my advice, although you probably know this already. But try to be patient, this is the key
