Hello again friendly community smile.gif

In my opinion intervals played in harmony (two notes at a time) can realy spice things up and keep your improvising fresh!

And that's why i want to have some of them under my fingers! i am a great beliver of the "do it by yourself"
method and i was playing along to chord vamps and chord progression but i just cant get them to fit!
no matter what genre im playing!

I tried to stick with the root and the chord notes outlining a special degree in a speacial chord or just hitting some random ones and slinding from chord to chord in a progression but other than a few country/blues licks that use the mix of minor and major thired i got nothing mad.gif

Maybe you guys have some new ideas for me or even better some theory guidelines to follow to build some licks of my own :3

Thanks in advance!

Hi mate! There are many different things that you could work to add more ideas into your vocabulary. Learning some chord melody stuff, triads and some more advanced stuff like quartal harmony could give you ideas to add double string melodies into your playing. This concepts are more used in fusion and jazz, so those are the styles that you should explore in our archive.

Here I share some that I think will help you:

The topic You started is very wide but I think You have a really good starting point - experiments with the notes from the chords. Your request is impossible to be answered in one post. Maybe just a few tips of where to start.

1. Ask Yourself a question what kind of skills You want to get at this particular moment. Notes matched to the scales or getting some fusion taste with outsides?

Second can't be done without the first one.

Maybe some raw recordings of Your experiments would lead us to better feedback?

I covered Quartal harmony in some of my Vchats and I must say that it's very nice what you can get with it. This is another lesson based on quartal harmony:

Hey mate smile.gif Great advices from the guys and a shameless plug from me tongue.gif https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Intervals-Etude/

Try this one to get yourself acquainted with the idea of going up the major scale using pretty much every important interval in sequences smile.gif

Not judging instinctively is the HARDEST thing I've ever come across so far in the battle with myself..

It's definitely difficult. First step is probably to accept that one judges other people, but also to accept that they can be different from your initial judgement. Once you've experienced that enough, you probably learn to not judge.

I used to be thinking: "people with mental health issues just need to pull themselves together and get going". From my own personal experiences now though, that's not how it always works. So through that I have become much more open in accepting that some people may not have the power to say...get out of bed, go shopping for dinner and what not. I have those days at times. Not so much in the summer/spring time though. But before I encountered things like that and other issues myself, I've changed my mindset a bit.

That was probably a bit of a side step from the topic. But yeah, don't judge a book by its cover...or at least know that the book can be different from your first opinion.

Well said mate, I agree with your statement smile.gif Now, have you tried this interval training? I am sure that you can make a great finger independence video based on intervals wink.gif Hope I sparked something there smile.gif

I have actually thought about a video like that biggrin.gif

I also remember seeing something similar in Guthrie Govan's Creative Guitar book. I think anyway! It's been a while since I've looked at it.
