Everywhere I look is someone playing flashy stuff.
I'm fed up with the young guitar players, I find. Paul Gilbert, Brett Garsed, Frank Gambale, Eric Johnson, John Petrucci don't count.
Young guitar players I find = non-older than 40
Do you know any guitar player besides the usual suspects?
Yes, I'm living a crisis between my ears.
Hmm. Well, I have seen lots of younger players pulling off some flashy bits on youtube and such. But as they say, it takes all kinds I'm sure you can find players who balance melodic playing as well. Perhaps our own ANDRE NIERI? His playing is very soulful and he using finger picking along with a pick. Very interesting style. Here is a link

I'm not a fan of these shredders anyway, but one player I found a couple of years ago that I liked is Gustavo Guerra. I think he won the guitar idol contest a few years back. This song is his best imo, reminds me of Satch (probably the only shredder I actually like):
Fedor Dosumov,Danielle Gottardo, Muris Varajic, Jakub Zytecki, Andy James, Leonardo Guzman, David Maxim Micic...to be honest there is ton of ultra talented players than haven't crossed 40's line Hard to mention all.
young up and coming guitar players? My vote would go for Lyle Watt :
seriously talented young lad.
I like this one because he focus on creating songs:
Rob Chapman is pretty badass
Andy Wood, he started out on mandolin and only picked up a guitar when he was 16. His next album is going to be a double album with one electric, and one acoustic.
Ok this guy is I think over 40 but he is worth checking out Pete Thorn, sideman to Chris Cornell, Melissa Etheridge, Don Henley. Check out his gear demos too
