Not sure of Darius's reasons but I know others are preferring low output nowadays as High output aren't as important with High gain amps or amps being boosted by a pedal, and you get more of the guitar tone rather than just pickup.

*If they're anything at all like the standard (vintage style) Kent Armstrong 12 pole piece pkup, the output is 'normal' for a traditional humbucker from the 50s and 60s. We just call that low these days compared to all the higher gain p'ups that are readily available. Having covers on - even metal covers - will slightly lower the output. I think those are Kent's vintage based but with wooden covers. I'll share some thoughts as soon as they'll be ready for test
