GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ New Guitar!

Posted by: Hans-Erik Apr 12 2008, 03:57 PM

Hio GMC!

Its time for my 5 year old cheepo-LP-copy to be replaced with something new.

Im looking for a new guitar, for metal/rock/shred. I want a lightweight, nice looking guitar with a good whammy (and pickups if possible). Anything below 1250EUR is good for me.

I have checked out the IbanezS2170, seems to fit my needs and pricerange.

Anyone got experience of it?
Im open for suggestions, bring it on! laugh.gif

edit. Bought a ESP, check it out later on in the thread

I dont have expiriance on the guitar, but she is a beauty.....smile.gif

Posted by: USAMAN Apr 12 2008, 04:39 PM

I have one...... Never seen it in that color before.
Its an apsolutely great instrument. NEVER goes out of tune!
break a string...stays in tune.
The only thing i dont like is the lack of fret markers on the board. Im use to using them.
Pull the trigger and buy it. You wont be sorry.

Thats my opinion.

Thanks, got any self-taken pictures of your model? smile.gif

Go Hard Tail! The ability to switch tunings easily will open you to many new things with the guitar. I had a nice wammy and I used it maybe once live. I looks nice though.

One word: Schecter! They are damn cheep, considering that it is an extremely good guitar! The neck is very smooth, they aren't that heavy, cool, but not excessively looking, good sound and so on!

Found some examples for you:

try a GIBSON LES PAUL STUDIO. they are awesome. play amazingly well and are made in USA. Plus you'd be used to the body style.

Yea saw em, the only one i would be interested in is the C-1 with FR trem. But still, i dont like to buy something "cheap" . Lol, its might just be some psychological thingy that has gotten into me, i wanna use all or none of the cash laugh.gif

Too bad the ibanez isnt available in like, black or something (only the cheeper nonprestiges). I know its available in Swirled Ebony but i cant find it anywhere in the EU.

What about the ESP/LTD MH-1000 Series?

Yea, checked em up, they look like fine guitars, and look pretty good too.
http://www.sanderd.be/public/fotos/guitar/ESP_LTD_M-1000/

edit. Thats the M-1000 not the MH tho, whats the difference besides the looks and pickups?

edit2. And how is the original FR compared to Ibanez ZR/Edge pro?

edit3. And ofcource its out of stock everywhere on the net, anyone know a webstore with the new mh1000/m1000 in stock? (in EU, ships to sweden)

I don't have experience with that guitar, but I've tried a few Ibanez'es and it's great guitars!!! smile.gif

That guitar should be more than good enough smile.gif

Posted by: Ivan Milenkovic Apr 13 2008, 01:03 PM

A agree with AudioPaal, this guitar is more than enough to replace your LP copy. It seems like a very comfortable guitar with some decent stock pickups too.

Posted by: Danilo Capezzuto Apr 13 2008, 01:13 PM

The new Prestige series is stunning. The s series have a mahogany body, and an awesome bridge. This one have a beautiful and strange color. Maybe the pickups are not too good, but is only a question of taste. Good guitar, no doubt!

Thats a great guitar, I'm sure you will be happy with it...And yes , not having fret markers can be annoying in certain situations ..

Posted by: USAMAN Apr 14 2008, 11:03 PM

Oh, I forgot to mention that there is a new s series that has 24 frets and fret markers. check the Ibanez website.

Good guitar!
I have the same except that I've the fixed bridge version, what I really love about the guitar is the neck, it feels so comfortable, it's awesome.
And maybe I'm going to change the bridge pickup smile.gif
