What Made You Pick Up The Guitar?

SO I used the money I got to buy an amiga 500 computer and bought an epiphone strat and a cheap little amp and that´s how it all started... I was already playing piano at the time, and thought it might be fun to learn another instrument. They quit after about 3 weeks and I kept going, the rest is history. Aug 13 2012, 10:01 PM	GMC:er Posts: 25.297 Joined: 23-December 09 From: Atlanta, Georgia, USA	My uncle was in a band called the Red Interiors, sort of a punk/progessive band believe it or not, and I was just watching him improvise to some music he was playing along to (quite effortlessly I might add) and thought "That looks like the funnest thing I've ever seen and I"m going to do that no matter what." So that's always been my goal. To be able to play guitar as i'm not really playing so much as simply letting it happen. Later on when I was watching crouching tiger I hear one of my fav lines. "True skill is effortless" which made a lot of sense to me. The further along the crazy line you can practice, then even playing at half that level will seem pretty effortless. So pushing the upper limit has always been important. It's weird if that guitar that neither one of my parents actually ever played hadn't just been laying around I probably never would have ended up finding something that I love so much. It was really inspiring to the point that just listening wasnt enough...... I had to play it as well, there just didn't seem to be any other option! although at first I kinda wanted to sing but I found it easier to keep a guitar in tune than keep my voice in tune.
