GMC Forum _ Collaborations _ Up Tempo Blues Collaboration
Posted by: Jose Mena Dec 14 2008, 11:50 PM
Hello Everyone
I've been wanting to lead a collab for a long time, and I thought it would be fun to play over some old fashioned blues backing track, I used this backing track on a lesson, and every now and then I play it and Jam with it.
So lets jam together, throw in your bluesy licks, chose your scale, this progression gives you a lot of freedom, mix them up and be creative. We can all learn from each other here.
I don't have a limit for the participants. But don't want an extremely large Jam.
Please upload your take completely dry (no time based effects, delay, reverb), on the upload with the backing track mix with your effects and stuff so I can get an Idea of what you want, and also let me know on your upload post.
Cheers

I will do my best to give this a go but I disappear home for Christmas so I may run out of time in the 5 days I have before that.
I will try and record though.

I want to sign up if its possible
edit:typo?!
Posted by: Oxac Dec 15 2008, 09:32 PM
I already recorded I even made an intro part... (I hope that I'm not disqualified...)
Jose, this was just an improvisation so I didn't want to make 2 takes. But just a little reverb and delay please.
Also, I have a problem when improvising like this. I get very stiff in my right wrist and I start digging too deep >.< Any tip? When I don't improvise my technique is much better. But somehow I get insecure and my playing really suffer from it.

Hey Oxac, cool intro, you are not disqualified but I was thinking of putting everyone's performance in the order that is on the list, I might have to cut the parts that you extended (before and after) I'll see what I can do

You are in
I guess I will keep it open till Friday, for more signups, lets see if we make 15.
By the way, when I meant dry, I meant no reverb or delay, but you should use amp emulation distortion compression and other effects that are part of your sound. It seems that I may have caused some confusion
Posted by: Oxac Dec 16 2008, 06:51 PM
Nemas Problemas Jose, just don't cut the parts inbetween
Posted by: Oxac Dec 17 2008, 08:42 PM
I just finished my 2 first pickups and I thought that I'd upload a take with them (you don't have to include it in the mix if you don't want to). But if you do want to do that, a slight reverb and delay would be awesome.
I hope it's not too much trouble, I'm so very proud of myself right now, you see
-EDIT- Regarding the noice in the beginning; the pickup isn't potted yet and that combined with cheap electronics in the guitar is the villain(s).

Sorry for not specifying the key, A _____ you fill in the blank,
, Minor works, but there is also a major third, so you can combine with A major, flating the 5th sounds nice too to give it a bluesy sound, and sharp 6 gives it a nice Dorian sound, I guess you can go free here.
Im putting your name down

Sorry this is so awfully bad but I had so much fun doing it. I thought what the heck I will go back to my anti solo days and play some weird annoying stuff.
I love it I might carry on soloing like this more it's great fun.
