Earlier this year I decided to invest in some proper recording equipment. But then I got real busy with work and have not really had much of a chance to use it. And since then I also decided to start taking guitar lessons once a week. Anyway as part of my studies I had to create a track using the theory that I have learned. I also thought it would be a good chance to work on my recording skills. This is not finished yet and the playing is a little sloppy since I have only been practicing this chord progression for about 3 days. Plus I have never added little lead fills between the chords like you will hear on this track so its really pushing my limits. I plan on recording these tracks again as I get better at it. Anyway I just thought it would be great if I could get some opinions on the quality of the mix. I made the drum track by splicing together some midi loops and added some choir voices in the background with my keyboard. I plan on adding more to this track like bass guitar and some lead guitar. Anyway I would appreciate any advice anyone might have.

Good song I'm only listening on laptop speakers, so I can't tell you much about the sound I'm afraid until I listen on my other computer. But the guitars sound a little trebly (sharp), but that might be my speakers.. I'll have a listen later I think you are correct about the guitars sounding trebly or sharp. I was going to play them again to clean up the sloppiness and at that time I will move my mic over toward the edge of the speaker a little bit. I had moved it toward the center of the cone to get some of the bass out and I overdid it a little. Thanks for listening. -------------------- My Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/user/FingerSpasm?feature=mhum

You should experiment a bit with the microphone positioning if you miced the cab, the sound is too thin, and hi-mid focused. The guitar is a bit out of tune as well.

I think it might be my sloppy playing. I think I was bending the strings just a little when I was fretting the chords making them a little flat or sharp. I am going to try and move the mic around a little bit. I had moved it more toward center to get rid of some of the heavy Bass. But I think I went to far. I am also going to start recording 2 tracks at once. One wet from my mic at the amp and then I have a JDI passive direct box that I am going to run through to get a dry signal at the same time. That way I can add some software effects to see the difference. I can also try and blend the two signals maybe. Once again thanks for the input. Sometimes its easy to forget the most basic things like guitar tuning and mic placement. -------------------- My Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/user/FingerSpasm?feature=mhum

I like the drums! Guitar part is great though I think sound must be better then this, or just getting it louder maybe fix it... Thanks for the reply. I think this is the best drum track that I have put together so far. I am assuming that you mean the guitar part is good once I am able to play it better I am practicing the parts so I can do another take. Will also be trying to work out a couple of small solos and maybe bass and keyboards. -------------------- My Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/user/FingerSpasm?feature=mhum
