As the tittle says I want to know your approach for creating vocal melodies. I'm following the advice you gave me and I'm creating my first album, at this moment I'm composing the lyrics and vocal melodies for 5 original songs I have.
The approach that I'm using is, I sit with a notebook, my guitar and the original song. I pick a topic or a story that I want to tell, and start creating melodies on the guitar while the song plays, while I'm playing I also start singing the melody with a couple of words and start writing them.
So that's my approach but I really want to know yours if it's possible of course, I really like the melodies of your songs.
Thanks a lot amigo.
Hey mate Made a little vid for ya:
You're awesome, thanks a lot amigo, I really enjoy these video responses.
I think that the most natural melodies are the ones that you naturally hum over a backing track or something. When I'm making melodic lines, I often loop a backing track and record myself humming (not guitar) different melodies for 20 minutes or so. Then I can review it at pick out good parts.
I think using your mind to compose gives you ultimate creative flexibility, because your mind is a completely unique 'instrument' from anyone else's.
