Hi GMC Forum,

I just ordered a new guitar body(loaded) and want to get a coil tap push pull pot installed. How do I know which one is the right one??

I want to buy the pot from a store on eBay that I have bought from before but they have so many different ones I don't know which one to get.

http://stores.ebay.com/azguitarparts_Switc...p;submit=Search

Any help will be much a appreciated!!
-Eric

i have one guitar with a puush-pull and one with a switch
the push pull is clumsy and difficult to work quickly
the toggle switch IMO is better and quicker to control
see if you can find them to try them first
a switch would need a new hole and probably a luthier to do the work but i think you will be happier
hope i don't confuse you

I am thinking of getting another Les Paul (maybe). Been looking on ebay among other places. When I see that anyone has made a modification like that, I just move on. A lot of people are like this, if you modifiy your guitar, the resale value takes a nose dive.

My Parker has a push pull. This does not seem to me to be the kind of thing one needs to switch quickly on they fly, at least it would not seem that way to me. Running a pickup as single or dual coil is just not that dramatic a change. You are still using the same magnets, coil windings. It is not like you are switching from a Strat PU to a Les Paul PU when you tap out a coil in a PU, he effect is always somewhat subtle.

I really appreciate everyone commenting on this but, please - I already have a guitar with a push/pull and I love it. I am not looking to sell this guitar EVER so it doesn't matter that the value goes down. It's a no name brand anyway. All I asked is which pot do I buy but no one except SJ has helped me.

Get push/push instead. I have them loaded in my Hamer. Much better because you just tap it with your finger.

Hey Eric,
Basically it's because it's rated at 500K. This is the general 'Rule of Thumb' for any pot used in conjunction with a Humbucker. (Volume or Tone.)
Presumably it's going to be used as a Tone Pot rather than a Volume?
You could use any of those others that they have but they will each affect your Tone differently and because of this you might need to install 'Bleed Capacitors' (either Treble or Bass) into the circuit. So, just for a straight, simple install go for the 500K and everything should be hunky-dory!!
