Hello Everyone! A little about me.

I saw a snippit of Kris on google, which led me to purchase "Speed, Tone & Theory", and the "Quick-Start Course" , and now I am here.

I am 42 years old and have been playing for some time. I am not looking to be in a band, or gain any fame
but just to be able to improve my technique and improvisation for my own enjoyment.

I suffered a spinal injury which three of my cervical vertebrae are fused, as a result I have permanent
numbness in the first two fingers of my left hand up to the second joint, and a little on the side of the third
finger and thumb. I also have had carpel tunnel surgery on both hands.

Because of this, I gave up playing for quite some time. Then I learned that Tony Iommi had actually been in an accident where a machine sliced off the tips of the fingers on his fretting hand! He had soft plastic tips
attached to the ends of his fingers, and returned to play guitar with his former band "Earth", later known as
Black Sabbath!

So now I am back at it!

I really like the humor Kris puts into his lessons, He must be a fun person.

Hey there Josiah - and welcome. smile.gif

Actually I am not as funny as I seem - I have spent to much time (not enough, some would argue blink.gif ) alnoe with my guitar - it can kill your sense of humour. blink.gif laugh.gif

I definatley believe you should have a go inspite of your injuries - I assume you have checked out jaw-dropping virtuoso Django Reinhardt - whose lefhand is vanished (almost).

Welcome,

My favorite inspirational story is Pat Martino, who was already an accomplished Jazz musician when he suffered an aneurysm and forgot how to play guitar.

He relearned it. So here I am learning for the first time and healthy. No excuse for me.

Not sure about that Guy either - Saw his infomercial the other night(Not interested in his guitar but I love watching anything about guitar training) and at least for that he was playing very basic one string chromatic scales leads - Kind of nonimpressive - But maybe it is for his audience.

Anything to make a buck

Josiah -

I am 43, you gotta keep us old guys rocking! biggrin.gif

I just had back surgery in June, not as serious as yours though.

I think the numbness will be a nuisance, but I am sure you can work around it.

Good luck,

Howard
