Hi guys! smile.gif
I'm doing some covertracks for a compilation album in the works, wont go into the details here, but it's a spesific selection of songs we can do and i went with this one first.

I'm finished with the full backingtrack (except the organ), but since i'm doing an instrumental version i'm having some doubts about the vocal-melodies. I've tried to make them sort of similar to the vocals, but... i'm a bit unsure if it works smile.gif

I've made a little sample of the melodies i've recorded so far.

Oh, and just noticed that there might be some loud picking noises in the 2nd verse, anyone else noticing this or am i hearing things? smile.gif

Comments are more than welcome! smile.gif

Wow great cover Trond. Here are my impressions regarding mellody work - the first verse sounds a bit empty and not convincing where second verse with the rhythm guitar and played in higher register sounds really awesome...Maybe you could do the first verse to have similar energy to it?

Regarding the band Kansas, on their first album cover years back they had a famous folksy mural that is painted on the wall of the Kansas State Capital of anti slavery abolitionist John Brown standing in front of an American Civil War battle scene, holding a rifle and a bible.

Attached Image

A few years ago Kansas basketball fans at a home game against Missouri reproduced the mural, But they replaced the Bible in John Browns left hand with the National Championship trophy Kansas had won the prior year. The reason this was presented for Missouri, is that Missouri was a slave state, and at that time Free State Kansans and Missouri Slavers used to shoot each other for enjoyment. John Brown and his sons once hacked 5 of them to death with broad swords. We carry on the tradition of hatred now just with sports competition.
