Why Have You Betrayed Me, Cleaning Cloth?!?!

Nov 8 2007, 12:46 PM	GMC:er Posts: 535 Joined: 23-August 07	First of all, I wipe my entire guitar down after every time I play play it, beneath the strings, the neck, everywhere. I noticed today when I sat down with my guitar that there's a buildup of fabric from the cloth on my high E string, and now when I play any note on it, it sounds very faintly muted and fades very quickly... and I can't get the dang fabric off! I've been trying for about 15 minutes straight to get it off, even with tweezers, but it's not working... any suggestions? Sorry for the lousy pictures, it was hard to get it in focus and with enough light. Edit: You could also take a lighter and try burning the fabric off. It shouldn't affect the steel string, but I am not one-hundred percent sure. It's worth a try. That cloth is not the best in the world to use but when you rub a wound string, especially one that is a little old and stretched it will get caught between the wounds. It will keep happening until you change the strings. I use an old terry cloth towel I cut into strips to clean the strings and hardware and sunglass lens cloth to wipe the finish on my collector guitars..... btw, I think that string needs a shave You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick. I mean if you really need that ,,,save yourself some money and just get a can of wd-40 its about the same stuff.. squirt down the fiddle.......nothing will rust and it will have a super shine.....and smell totally industrial hardcore......cause everyone knows if you have a super shiny guitar you got to be a killer guitar player lol You are at GuitarMasterClass.net Don't miss today's free lick.
