Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi mate! Great to see you very active at REC!!

This lesson is totally killer and I can say that you are playing it with GREAT energy and attitude. I really enjoyed you take. It seems that Jonathan's style feel natural in your hands.

Good groove and timing, clean playing and convincing vibrato. I just think that the faster licks, starting at 01:10 have some room for improvements. You can work timing and the connection between each pattern there. Other than that, this sounds great mate.

You tone is good here but I would just put your guitar a bit louder in the mix, or maybe add some treble to make it stand out a bit more.

Ok mate, I hope that you continue finding time to play all these cool lessons!

Keep on rocking. smile.gif

Very nice!

At times here your touch is incredibly musical with killer vibrato and attack!

The tonal issue I mentioned in your other REC take is amplified here and your lead tend to gets buried in the backing which makes it hard for me to listen with precision. I do feel that some of your runs here are pretty tight while some need more work like the last one. It's hard to tell for sure though with the current mix. Look out for excessive low-end in both your dry signal and reverb/delay, if that's not the issue try adding some high end.

Also there are some pitch issues when you get higher up on the neck (like at 00:45) - it could be your bending that is a little out of tune or your intonation.

In the longer run - ie when you start your next lesson/learning project - I would advise to think more actively about relaxing your left hand when you practice at slower speeds. This will have a major impact on your hand sync and 'cleanliness' - and we can clearly tell in this solo you do not play fully relaxed. I would say this is probably the fastest way you have to a new threshold learning experience.

Overall your playing here is very musical - you get an 8 from me!

Hey there!

Very cool choice of lesson.

Before going into details of playing please let me notice that this angle of guitar view, makes a limit on how much we can see. More from the top would be apprioriate. Please keep this in mind for your upcoming rec takes smile.gif

Now the playing.

I'm not 100% sure if this is a result of everything happening in the mix - dense wall of guitars, but if I had to guess I would say there is is unwanted noise happening, that comes from unwanted open strings. Maybe you are not having a constant contact with unused strings, so they start to ring under the low strings you use to play the riff.

At 0:43 - is there a wrong note happening?

At 0:47 you could work on this bend pitch - it is slightly off

Around 0:50 - you rush these notes a little. In general I have a feeling that the notes after are not exactly matching expected rhythm. It is definitely unclear

At around 1:20 these fast runs are not precise yet but...t he good news is you got it right rhytmically, which is not so obvious. I would recommend some more time given so they would load into musce memory and you could then use you head only to focus on perfect precision and timing.Towards the end it is audible that you loose the tightness - maybe hands got tired of continous exchaus?

...and...you've made your own ending, different than original. But that's something you know for sure wink.gif

Summary:
You've got some potantial and some ability to figure out some partially irregular patterns, but you tend to go off in time with some completely straight forward runs. You have a nicely matched tone but you need to work on some muting (unwanted strings). Being in your shoes I would spend more time on perfectly understanding these straight forward runs. I'm afraid you were tryign to challenge things more by ear than the actual sheet delivered. Sometimes it is good to spend some "mathematical" time with your instrumen to develope overall rhytyhm understanding. Most of playign isses with hard licks don't happen becasue of lack of strength in hand, but becasue of lack of proper movements and strength management. Doing fast runs randomly will not help you develope, so please consider to repriorize the stage of analysis of the lesson before start of the practise smile.gif
