Nice to know you like them because i have 6 packs of strings for my new 7-string on the way and i was not sure if i should by them at all. Well now i know they are not bad!

I use 010-046 (011 is ok too but I rather 010)
The respond well to bending with enough resistance. 009 and thinner is too light for my taste and I always tear off the thin E string (too often already when restringing) 012 and above is a bit too heavy, too much tension, difficult to bend etc. -------------------- My bands homepage

Elixir 9's
I like them because they are low tension and bend easily but stand up to heavier picking quite well (although not as well as some others)... and the protective coating which makes them last insanely long is just icing on the cake. I like Blue Steel as well but they seem to be much higher tension to me and harder to bend and trem. An inexpensive alternative is the Ernie Ball Slinkys... they seem to be very low tension to me as well but need changing like every week or so - Hardtail -------------------- Beginner's Amp & Guitar Gear Guide My Keeley Blues Driver BD-2 Review My Line6 Flextone II Review Guitars: Martin D-16RGT with B-Band UST & '99 Fender "Big Apple" Hardtail HH Strat Amps: Fender Blues Junior Special Edition & Fender Studio 85 (Simultaneous... yummy) |

Actually I usually like 10's so I like the extra coating thickness on the 9's. I get best of both worlds. Fatter feeling but still real bendy.
Oh, and I have had DOZENS of slinky strings just up and break on me while restringing OR playing. It finally took one almost getting me in the eye before I finally switched to what I perceive as better quality. - Hardtail -------------------- Beginner's Amp & Guitar Gear Guide My Keeley Blues Driver BD-2 Review My Line6 Flextone II Review Guitars: Martin D-16RGT with B-Band UST & '99 Fender "Big Apple" Hardtail HH Strat Amps: Fender Blues Junior Special Edition & Fender Studio 85 (Simultaneous... yummy) |
