You have to get under 75% I believe. You can see some fails in the beginning of the REC program I think, but you're right, not many have failed. This is most likely because of an unexpected rise each individual's skill in the recent past... smile.gif

You have to be graded over 75% (average of all instructor grades) to pass.

The reason most takes pass is because GMCers are devoted students and practice a lot before uploading their takes! smile.gif

I failed one, and yeh it's under 75% that's a fail.

This is how bad you have to be to fail. https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=27819

Also topics that failed get a dry.gif beside them.

I failed one as well, just go to the REC page, and check for the icon on the left of the topic name, if it's dry.gif , then it's a non pass, so you can check it yourself!

I had to do a "do over" once. So failure is possible and don't let anyone tell you any different. Now get to work on failing...wait..

That's the reason I never uploaded any other REC than my first one. Can't upload something when it's not perfect for me and so I am just recording for now. smile.gif

It's seems that I really have a problem recording something perfect... When I press the rec button, everything goes wrong.

Hey i think 98 % of learning guitarist feel like you. It's the same for me here. On my last rec take i only got 82 % or something in that area. Normally i try to be perfect but after so many takes which went wrong i posted the best try smile.gif But as on any other topic said: Practice makes perfect!! smile.gif

Perfection is the right standard, but hey I'm struggling along with level 2 and 3 lessons. Perfection never happens when I play, at any speed. If I could play these lessons perfectly (like e.g. Muris' examples) then I could probably play level 6 at the 90% rating and I'd be practicing those instead.

When I've reached a level on a lesson where it's mostly there, but I feel like I'm not going to get significantly better with 2 or 3 weeks more serious practice, then I think it's probably good to post and get some feedback (and maybe take a break from it for a while). But this is close to a question I've been meaning to ask: At what point, short of perfection, should I move on from a lesson? Otherwise I'm still going to be working on the first one I started. :-/

I too suffer severe psychological derangement when the rec light is on, but I figure it's a matter of getting used to it, so look forwards to lots more imperfect uploads from me (still a small fraction of those that I record and sit on).

As for the REC light on your camera, the only way around it is to leave it on. Even if you can't see it, you know when it's on or off. So, leave it on and review your work.

Regarding "moving on from a lesson" I feel that it's okay to be learning 1 in "comfort" range, 1 in "challenge" range, and practicing N where N can be any number of the last few lessons you felt that you "learned"

As for perfection, throw the word away. Who's perfect here? If you are perfect... why did you sign up for a class? Further, let me know if you find an instructor that will admit to being "perfect" and I will be happy to offer you a wide variety of bridges at extremely low prices!

Anyway, we lose the benefit of professional critique if we wait for "perfection" in our playing of lessons.

I have the same problem, when i start recording, everything goes wrong. So what i do is not to try to make a perfect first take, i play it three or four times while recording to get rid of the tension of being recorded smile.gif The last one is the best take almost every time smile.gif

Yesterday, I finally got a good take of the lesson Jumping Around from Muris. It took me like 2 months, 100 takes and I almost broke my guitar on it (but I am still working on my autogenous training tongue.gif).

And it's a pretty easy lesson I think. smile.gif

What I did is trying to focus on the music. Could sound logical for some of you but sometimes I focus on the fingers more than the music and then everything go wrong.

About perfection, we have all our own level of perfection. Obviously, I am not Emir or Gabriel. I meant, perfect from my point of view. smile.gif

I like this thread very much because I or we get an impression of how we are thinking. And guess what we are all very close together in the way we handle things and think about it.
