Hey friends! I just wanted to have a funny thread here to know why there are lots of people that hates Linking Park and EMO bands like My Chemical Romance or even Bullet For My Valentine (Which I think it is a metal band).

It would be great if you post convincent comments about it. wink.gif

i really dont "hate" any music, i just know what i like and what i dislike. the whole emo thing, to me at least, just seem really ridiculous and stupid, the lyrical content is just stupid whiny crap, at least to my ears. however, if a band puts their hearts into making music they love, then thats all that matters.

Guitarman is very right!
There are many bands I don't like, and it's usually because they are generic sounding because they are following some trend going on at the moment and don't make any effort to be unique. At that point I feel like they are just trying to cash in on a people's tendency to follow trends. I like bands that have something unique to offer.
Personally I liked Hybrid Theory, and I don't hate emo, I just don't pay much attention to it because I don't like it, and guys wearing girls pants does annoy me.

i like some linkin park songs, but the "emo" concept is just plain wrong. emo = emotional, all good songs have some emotional meaning to somebody (even the wheels on the bus).
but the music that's been categorized as EMO is totally ruined by how its sang... most of them whine alot and make the songs sound as if their complaining about something... but theres no point. whineing is a bad thing, it sounds horrible and has a horrible sounding name, why put it into a song? plus alot of the riffs from one "EMO" band to another sound pretty much the same to me.

It always happen that there are bands that sound similar. I remember when grunge was the most popular style we had lots of bands with the same sound. I really enjoy some of the copies... for example I like Stone Temple Pilots and Silverchair's first album. However Nirvana, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam weren't guilty of the lots of copies. Many people said that all the grunge bands sound the same and that it was shxxt because ot if.

Do the copies destroy a style?

I have nothing against Linkin Park. I like there music. Not so much the new album though...
MCR has a couple good songs, but that's about it.
And I'm def. NOT into the emo thing either. (But, they make for a good laugh...)

I don't like these bands because when i hear them, They do nothing for me. I feel no emotion or effort really in there music, it seems to mechanical and predicatble. emo bands, well i dont like one of there singers, There whiny seemingly out of pitch voices just are not pleasant to my ears, And there lyrics are dry and bland.

I hear it, and nothing clicks with me. If music cant make me feel any emotion, Then its not for me.

EDIT

I dont "hate" any of these bands.

Well, I don't hate any of these bands..
I just don't like them as well as I do other bands because they don't give me as much as other bands do..
But there are far worse bands than what you mention smile.gif

My chemical romance and Bullet for my valentine even has a few good songs I can listen to, just not Linkin Park for some reason.. They just don't "click" with me smile.gif

That's a great question I don't have the answer to. smile.gif
I dunno man, I know what you're talking about because I like grunge too, and I do enjoy some of the copies song aswell, but I guess as a whole the copies albums just don't sound as honest, if you know what I mean. But this is going into more of a loyalty thing than what you're talking about, witch is that good songs are good songs, I personally think that if a band has a honest feel, I'll probably listen to thier songs more and enjoy them more, I think it just has to do with the feel I get from the band. Like how I like the feel of Alice In Chains more than Stone Temple Pilots, I mean STP has some great songs, but I tend to listen to AIC more, partly because they have a good feeling to thier music, but also because I love Layne's voice, and Jerry's guitar playing. But you are right, good songs are good songs, and quality music is quality music, I guess I going more into music as a culture and a way of life than a form of entertainment.

(ugh, I tend to get kind of trippy in my posts when I'm tired) laugh.gif

Same here. Seems to me all the old stuff is better Ex. metallica, linkin park, GN'R I esspecially like the old GN'R (Velvet Revolver is good but just not as good as GNR and i dont think it ever will be in my oppinion)
But back to the whole Emo music Topic. I dont like any of it at all mostly cause the lyrics just aren't what i wanna i dont wanna listen to songs about how bad stuff is. I wanna hear lyrics like........ cool.gif

Ramble On!
And now the time the time is now.
Sing my song.
I'm going round the world i gotta find my girl.
On my way.
I been this way ten years to the day.
Ramble On!
Gotta find the queen of all my dreams.

Now that right there, that is a song with great lyrics. Probably my fav. song Right after Stairway to Heaven of course biggrin.gif

great topic....
I don't hate LP,or any other band for that mater....but interesting question was do the copies destroy a style..
I don't think so...I think that the atmosphere is the key to the originality...and that STP ,Soundgarden and all the grunge bands that was so popular at the time is living proof of that...in the end...difrent people hold the same instruments...but band is a bout people and their emotions..smile.gif

Whinning about pointless stuff = sad.gif i love music with meaning

Stories = smile.gif
War songs = smile.gif
folk tales = smile.gif
messages = smile.gif

i don't like when bands just grab the passing band wagon and get popularity by doing whats " in " if you jump onto the music scene because your single is on MTV i think you took a negative approach to music.. bands like Green Day. Green Day when they first arrived.. i really didn't mind. they had catchy songs with good meanings that still have value today.. example Time of your life.. then they started making music for the masses.. by doing what every other band is doing.. by following the curve they created music i don't like .. my 2 cents

I don't know if I hate any bands or not but...

I actually feel sort of a sick feeling from hearing emo, some of it anyway, maybe all who cares...

Now, I'm not an incredible musician but I have the want to get better and like I heard in a movie, a dumb movie but ya know....

If you don't have the discipline to learn your craft.....well you get it right. Emo is just plain simple, those musicians probably don't know what's going on, and if they do then they are holding themselves away from their true potential.
