I was going through an 80's rock phase today and Y&T hit the rotation. I had forgotten how incredible of a guitarist AND vocalist he is. Not many great guitarists are also great singers.

What strikes me about Meneketti is his command of vibrato. Truly one of my all time favorites in terms of command of vibrato. What sets his vibrato apart from many others is he doesn't just reach the height of his bends - he goes just past the top of the note causing a caustic, deep vibrato. It's almost a violent vibrato.

Just wanted to put him back up on the radar - he doesn't get much recognition these days, so here's my tip of the hat for Dave Meneketti!

Temptation

lonely side of town

As of late, he has taken a blues route for his solo career, and from what I've heard, it's really really good.

it reminds me a little bit of Vinnie Moore with UFO, he's got a really tasty style as well in this old school rock:

Hey just wanted to say thanks to Sir Jamesalot for posting these videos! biggrin.gif I had never heard of this guy before, and I like his playing in these videos so much that I decided to order his Blues CD. He has a great Gary Moore-like style in his playing that rocks!

Yah - he went the blues route after his Y&T career and I'm really impressed overall by his playing. Cool. I should hit him up for commission on that sale wink.gif
