Hi Dud3! Welcome to your Gab's Army thread!!

Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here. Also let me know how you think that I can help you and what are your expectations for our job. You can check the other Army's thread to discover the different modalities of this project.

The principles of our Army are:

+ Improve your technique
+ Make music and solos
+ Have fun
+ Destroy the enemy (hahaha not really just kidding... )

Hey Gabriel,

I'm 21, I'm from Germany and I'm playing guitar since 4 years, but with a few gaps.
Bands I like are The Offspring, Yellowcard, Bullet for my Valentine, Papa Roach, Story of the Year, Red Jumpsuit apperatus, Four Year Strong, A Day to Remember and many more ...and Cirse of course cool.gif

I started with the acoustic guitar and learned to play and to sing at the same time and I coverd many songs.
After a year playing only acoustic I started with the electric guitar and I tried to learn some Punk songs of Offspring and Greenday and other Bands...
Then I started a band with a few friends, we played something between metal and punk but most of the time we just jamed.
I recorded some song ideas but they never got finished. Our biggest succes was playing some covers on the street with acoustic instruments, that was really cool.
Then our band dissolved because some members went studying but we meet each other and play sometimes together anyways.

Most of the time I play rhythm because I'm always trying to compose a song and when I jam with somebody I'm normally the one playing rhythm...so leadguitar is my biggest weakness.

So I will post some videos of me playing so you can help me improving myself smile.gif

Hey Gabriel!

Here is my try for "Pop Punk".
I think it's a great composition. Those chords are really punishing me biggrin.gif but I think they are a great practice.

Hi mate! You did a great choice! I think that you are close with this lesson but it needs more practice.

00:00 to 00:27: This part is sounding good but could sound a bit tighter. I think that you are not still 100% comfortable with the chords but you'll be after some more days of practice.

00:28 to 00:51 : I think that you have to experiment with the palm muting of this part until you get a more consistent sound, it's a bit irregular. This part also has some timing issues. Concentrate on it, it must be very precise.

00:57: This connection should be smoother.

00:58 to end: This part has some chords that sound a bit weird and also should sound tighter with the rhythm.

There is nothing too serious here, I think that you just need to keep on playing it. Do you have any other lessons in mind?

Thank you for your advice smile.gif
Yes, I'm working on your Bad Religion lesson, Skate Punk lesson and Cosmins Voice of your guitar.
Your Millencolin lesson and your Mudhoney lesson are also lessons I have to try, they are sounding great.

Ok! so there is a lot of work on the way... I think that these lessons are good choices to continue. Please post here your takes and I will give you feedback, also feel free to post a new take of the Pop Punk lesson.

Hey! Great to see you working hard! There are just details to adjust, and some more playing/practicing time to master this one.

00:02 - 00:22: This part needs some more practice. You need to make it sound more consistent, tighter and a bit stronger. There are some moments when you move your fingers instead the hand from your wrist, and that makes it sound weaker. You should review that.

00:22 - 00:56: All this part sounds good. There are only some chords that sound a bit insecure but this will be fixed with some more practice.

00:56 - end: The solo is also very close and needs some little adjustments. The bends should sound more consistent, and the double string licks more aggressive, try to make both strings sound louder. I think that here is happening the same thing that happens in the first section with your hand's movement.

Hey!
This problem playing with the finger and not with the wrist is a problem with which im struggling for a while, but I didn't focus on that in this take so I will start to focus more on that.
Good to know that I should play the strings harder, I didn't even think about that this could matter, so that's food for thought wink.gif
