Wow Muris! love this lesson its gr8, I have worked all night on it and now have it memorised, just need to get some of the bits up to speed, the string hop across all six strings is probably the hardest part, really hard to nail! but.. it shall be mine smile.gif , just found my Mr Big CD and feel all inspired shall listen to this before bed, biggrin.gif I`ll keep yer posted on me progress with this one.

Cheers
Chris

The great thing I`ve found is I can play this stuff! I just needed to be shown, I`ve been stuck in a comfort zone for many years with no real instruction, pacticing the same routine that I`ve practiced probably for maybe the last 10 years!! this is such a breath of fresh air for me, for the first time in a long time I can actually feel that I`ve been playing, my aching left hand tells me so lol laugh.gif

That's great man, really glad to hear that!!! smile.gif

yeah, skipping part IS tricky a bit so take slower backing for warmup.
Looking forward to hear it tho!! smile.gif

yup, once I`m happy with it I`ll post a recording of it smile.gif

Ok! so... progress so far.... this is my second night on this lesson so I thought I`d post the close of tonights practice session (awful as it is) and re post in a week and see if theres an improvement dry.gif

I`m playin at 110bpm, I`ve slowed it down more but find it almost impossible to stay in time with the backing blink.gif so I`m playing the parts over and over again then put the whole thing together at 110 bpm

nearly got the string hop and now finding the sweeps a little tricky lol! (as you will hear huh.gif )

anyway, sorry to assault your ears in this way, but then you are the teacher smile.gif biggrin.gif

Cheers
Chris

Well I do see some issues with timing and sweep as well but you putted great effort to it!! smile.gif

Just keep it practicing, this is more than great for first shot, thumb up!! biggrin.gif

P.S no assault on my ears,it's just my glasses laugh.gif

Posted by: Smells Oct 28 2007, 06:36 AM

lol thanks m8, your very kind, it was awful lol, you know it and I know it lol!!

But (as in the words of the song) things can only get better biggrin.gif

Posted by: muris Oct 28 2007, 08:44 PM

It WILL get better,we both know it!! smile.gif

Posted by: Smells Nov 7 2007, 05:57 PM

Sorry for the delay in an update, I promised to post in week to show/not show any improvement.

I`m playing it at 125bpm finding the timing a lot easier at this speed, its still not clean enough for my liking, mainly the sweep with tap part, I shall post in the next couple of days for you smile.gif

Posted by: muris Nov 7 2007, 06:44 PM

Great progress,thumbs up!! biggrin.gif

Sounds a lot better than a first attempt Chris, well done!! smile.gif
As you said it needs more practice but you're doing fine
and I'm sure you'll nail it!!
My advice it to try really slow backing for this one,
just to hit every note properly.
Could you upload that one too?
Thanks,effort is well appreciated!! smile.gif

thanks Muris smile.gif

Hope you dont mind me asking, but ... is the tab right for video 8 on this lesson??

Just having a play along with you to get the phrasing a bit better and the run near the end is longer than what I had learnt , I`ve worked out where I was going wrong but i`ve checked and double checked with the tab and its different, or else I`m going bonkers in me old age smile.gif

Posted by: muris Nov 11 2007, 07:49 AM

Ahh well spotted Chris, just checked it,my fault huh.gif
Tab is fine but I added few notes in slow version,
that first pattern of 6 notes, should be played twice and I played it three times...
But no worries ,haven't got extra buck for adding it laugh.gif
Joking,my mistake and thanks for notification! smile.gif

Chris, the riffing part at the beginning is steady as a rock!!!!!! biggrin.gif

There are only 2 spots in whole lesson that you need to work on just a bit more.
First one is earliest fast lick just after riffing.
Perhaps timing is what bothers you cause those are 16th triplets
and in riffing you have straight 16th,just pay attention on that.
And second part which isn't real "issue" is the last note after skipping part.
You played note G on 12th fret but it's actually F on 10th. smile.gif

All in all, amazing work and I'm so glad you did this slow version!!
Hope you're now a lot more safe and sure for faster versions. cool.gif

Hey Smells it sounds awesome, hearing you play it inspires me to continue trying it. I think it'll take me about 6 months or longer though to reach your level smile.gif

Muris that is the best lesson of all time, a beginner/intermediate version down the road would be awesome!

Posted by: Muris Nov 21 2007, 09:17 AM

Sure, gonna try some easier PG stuff as well. smile.gif
