Just like that, post your 10 favourite single pieces of music. (lets say min. 15:00 of length, if you don't find 10, you can put shorter ones in aswell)
I just love those longer tracks that keep your attention up, tell some story and leave you with that "oh that didn't even feel close to half an hour" feeling.

my list (without any kind of sorting):

Rush - 2112
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick
Phideaux - Chupacabras
Emmerson, Lake & Palmer - Tarkus
Van der Graaf Generator - A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers
Transatlantic - All of the Above
Liquid Tension Experiment - When the Water breaks
Disillusion - Back to times of Splendor
Dream Theater - A change of seasons
Museo Rosenbach - Zarathustra

Hmm, good question. Most music I know of that is longer than 15mins starts turning into classical music and I only know a few names of pieces and even then it's only parts of it that are really my fave bits.

Just like these.. they both have epic bits, especially the ending sections.. but there's also a few places which aren't quite as awesome. Although, I really should listen to The Odyssey again, maybe I'm getting confused and it's all awesome... biggrin.gif

You should stay more concentrated on the music itself , The Odyssey's far best progressive piece in general!!

BTW, i forgot the most evil epic tune ever

Mercyful Fate - Satan's Fall!!

Such amazing song!

man i can't think of 10 tongue.gif, so here's one that i am listening right now.

It really builds up pretty nicely, really like it, especially after the 6 min.

It's more of a softer epic, than that epic epic.

Hmm I don't know if I can come up with 10 of them but right off the top of my head would be these ,not necessarily in this order except for Rush at #1. Do Rock Operas/ Concept albums count?

Rush - 2112
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Frank Zappa - Joe's Garage (entire album/story)
Peter Frampton - Do You Feel Like We Do
Pink Floyd - The Wall

I am sure there are more that I can't think of at the moment

Most tracks that are really long tend to lose my interest after a while, but there are a few that stick out.
In no particular order;

Dream Theater - The Count of Tuscany - 19 mins

Meshuggah - I - 21 mins

Manowar - Achilles, Agony and Ecstacy in Eight Parts - 28 mins

Crotchduster - Crotchopus - 14 mins (just 'cause it's the funniest thing I've ever heard)

The Devin Townsend Project - The Mighty Masturbator - 16 mins

Iron Maiden - Rime of the Ancient Mariner - 13 mins

Opeth - Blackwater Park - 12 mins

Heathen - No Stone Unturned - 11 mins

Yes - Close to the Edge - 18 mins

and of course,
Rush - 2112 - 20 mins

Edit: I also forgot about The End by The Doors, only lasts about 11 minutes but always been one of my favorites!

You should check out the Devin Townsend track! It's actually a very complex piece of music, it just happens to have some pretty funny lyrics tongue.gif
As for the Crotchduster one, unless you're a fan of very immature humor and can't stand foul language it probably isn't for you, lol!
