I recently signed up to this site, and figured that I wanted to introduce myself. I'm very new to playing the guitar, and only know some basic stuff (two pentatonic boxes, some chords and some tabs). I mainly listen to Children of Bodom, Iron Maiden, Sonata Arctica, Stonegard (awesome norwegian band, check them out.), Slipknot, Stone Sour, Opeth, Rammstein, Chimaira, Dream Theater and Avenged Sevenfold. I play on a old Morgan something (fake-strat) with a cheap behringer amp., but I'm saving for a ESP LTD-Alexi600 and a better amp (unsure of what I should get.), I just need to get a job and stop wasting money on stuff. EDIT: If you decide to check out Stonegard, listen to these songs: Arrows, Hunter, Resistance (slow ballad-like song) and From dusk 'till doom. My personal favourites. I practiced for years on a cheap Yamaha RGX, and then a certain amount of years on a cheap strat copy made by Washburn called Lyon. I hope you get the new gear soon.
