Which tunings do you prefer and for what style?
The only one I have really used is dropped D which Marcus Lavendell introduced me to. Had I been more insightful when starting out on the guitar I might have never used standard tuning though - as its logic can be questioned. By the way don't miss an awesome lesson by Cosmin about Drop A. |

I like drop tunings more than than standard now. I learned drop d tuning from Paul Gilbert......No, not personally! It was on a DVD from my guitar starterpack.

i found more comfortable playing in drop C than in E standard well, it usually depends on the context but of course drop C has a lot of power |

E standard for regular playing, Eb standard for blues with thicker strings, drop D for metal and drop C for metal/stoner rock. I also like to make open tunings on treble strings when recording something with slide.

I prefer standard E for all the funk/rock stuff I play. I need the tension on my bass for slap style. Eventually I use dropped D tuning when I need more depth.
