Headphones For Recording, please guys, help me find the right ones!

hi everyone.

I recently started homerecording, and after doing so for a while, i realised that i needed a good pair of headphones,
because playing the bacing track from my computers speakers simply isn't loud enough tongue.gif

So now i turn to all you experienced recorders out there: Can you help me find a decent pair of headphones at a good price (120$ tops)? And are there any brands you would recommend?

I use AKG K271 Studio, and they're awesome..
A bit expensive though, but AKG 240 Studio costs around 90$ to 150$ on Ebay and they're awesome too smile.gif

I've tried them and they're stellar!

I have Sennheiser HD 465 and they are very good , but they are hi-fi headphones..For recording and most true sound I would go with AKGs mentoned..

I use K141 Studio, nice precise monitor headphones. They are not too expensive but do the job great for the price. I'll do a review soon on those.

I use AKGs K77 Stereo Headphones, they are propably the cheapest from AKG, but they are awesome, and I bet that they don't differ rmuch from the more expensive ones...

Whats the difference between a semiopen and a closed headphone?

For recording, a closed design is best. Closed designs do a far better job of preventing monitored audio bleeding into the microphone - semi-open designs do less to prevent this.

I just got a brand new pair of these AKG K271 a few days ago. Sure, not the cheapest choice as audiopaal mentioned, but the sound is really good.

I'm not really used the closed design. I feel like in bubble after a few hours of practicing, as the pressure on the head is much higher.

I have beyerdynamic dt990 pro's (semi open) and love them. They are the most comfortable headphones ever.

I use a pair of Yamaha HP-1's. They're studio monitors from the 70's and 80's. High quality. You get a lot of detail at low volumes. They can be hard to find sometimes, but they'll pop up on eBay for around $20 occasionally. Fantastic for bang/buck.
