SPIFF!!! This one is tricky as it requires ECONOMIC PICKING and PINKY POWER with the pinky pull off, not to mentions shifting positions. You put it all together and make it in to a cool lick! Very nicely played on the PINKY bit. Getting the weakest finger to carry all the weight is tough. Not using a pick strike on that pinky note makes the pinky work twice as hard. Without the pick strike, the pinky has to do it all by itself.

You got the econ bit, and the pinky bit, and the shifting. In short, you made short work of it and ..
LEVELED UP!!!!

Not to worry. I can see both your hands so I know it's working out. I can also hear enough to tell it's being played correctly. A quick reboot should fix that warble hopefully smile.gif This lick is a bit of a beast in that it leans big time on the weakest member of the Finger Family. The proverbial runt of the litter, the Pinky.

You have your runt on a short leash it seems which is a good thing! The runt of the litter can cause all kinds of problems if he is not properly trained. Without training, the runt runs wild and sometimes just hides behind his larger siblings, refusing to come out at all. Once under proper discipline, the run adds quite a bit to finger family. You clearly have been giving tough love to the little guy!!!
Also, you are now the HIGHEST RANKING Quick Licks practitioner here at GMC. As such, you have earned the STAR OF HONOR for your Badge. Congratulations!!!!! You are the TOP DAWG!!!!

I very rarely have folks go back and try again on quick licks but this time I sorta have to. The entire point of this quick lick is using Econ picking (two down strokes) then a hammer on with the pinky. You can clearly do the left hand bits, but I need you to actually pick this with two down strokes to start each triad. The entire point of the drill is to train you to use two down strokes in a row followed by a hammer on. It's a "starter" version of a arp sweep. Once more!

BTW I like the way you used the one handed technique! you've gotten a good handle on it! It's just not what we need on this particular lick. You can do it!!Todd

My bad! I thought the pick was optional here. It really was getting in the way - the picked version is harsh on the strings which makes stronger palm muting necessary to keep the noise low.

Well done! The picking is important here because it's designed to teach you alternate picking. There is picking notation in the first bar of the tablature. I usually only put pick notation in the first bar if it applies to the entire piece. The square U shape means Down Stroke. So two square U shapes in a row means two down strokes. This is a sort of Mini Sweep, which is another technique that uses down strokes going up the strings and up strokes going down the strings. But you got it! This is what I wanted to see and you just... LEVELED UP!!!!
