During a video chat, Gab brought the band All That Remains to my attention and so I've been listening to them for a while now.

Initially I was just enjoying the music as a whole but recently I paid more attention to Oli Herbert's playing, he shreds in such a melodic way I love it. I love the solo in This Calling, there's an ascending riff and then a descending riff that really catch the ear.

Hmm that's pretty crappy tone he's getting there, and the playing seems quite scrappy, not how he comes across on album or live clips I've seen

I meet him some years ago and was talking with him about guitar gear. Real friendly guy and a great live player. Always liked his approach to guitar solos. You can tell he puts a lot of thought into them.

I just watched an interview with him and Rusty Cooley, he's definitely a smart guy and has his degree in music composition, and studied classical etc

'This Calling' was the first song that has drawn my attention to this band - I loved their older stuff, but now they kinda lost that melodic stuff which I was so much into sad.gif
