I really only heard of this band a couple of weeks ago. I watched the video for Fire and Flames or something like that on YouTube. It was pretty cheesy, but sounded cool. Then, I keep hearing lots of people ripping on them saying they can't play. What is that all about? Are they a real band? What am I missing?!

I never listened before this band, but they do not sound bad.

I see that there is a lot of parody but there is also some cool videos.

like:

Dragon Force Young Guitar

I dont think they are the better, but for sure, they are no the worst thing I´ve hear so far

Im not too much a fan of Fire and the Flames... but most of thier other stuff I love. They use something called a Chopper Pedal from what I hear to make the notes sound faster than they are. Regardless, still a very good band.

but another reason y a lot of people dont like them and make parodies is because their music is forced. They focus too much on making shred they forget to play wut comes from the heart. AAnd that my friend is wut makes a good musician and band

To me, they just can't write good music. It suffers way too much on repetitiveness. Most of there songs just sounds the same. I'm used to how cheesy some Power Metal can be, but this is the kind of cheese that has been rotten for a while. They would be tossed in the forgettable pile to me if it not that there image is EVERYWHERE.

I like through the fire and the flames but i get really annoyed when people say dragonforce can shred and i say watch a live vid and they say well they play so fast its hard to play it live. That doesn't make sense. I dont like how all there songs sound the same. And also im sure thet speed up there solos somehow. You might be able to tell im not too keen on them. smile.gif

I saw them live and they were quite a mess. They must not have sound checked because the drums were very loud, and I could barely hear anything else, the singer missed more than a few vocal parts, but overall he wasn't embarrassing(but pretty close), the guitars were not as bad as I've seen online, but I could barely hear them anyway, so I probably missed their mistakes because of the horrible sound.

Those live vids are either ones with bad sound quality that make you think that they play wrong OR the guys are this drunk that they can not play anymore. Dragonforce is not a serious band, more like a playground for those musicians to have some fun. They know that they are one big clichee and they are proud of it happy.gif

I see no reason to bash Dragonforce, I really enjoy their music, and guess what, if you can't stand the fact that they aren't that great live, then don't go see them, I won't either. But that doesn't mean that I can't enjoy the music on the album. Sure they mostly studio, but electronic music is 100%, and some of it can be interesting, and don't really care, as long as it sounds cool. No the lyrics aren't supposed to be serious, no they don't care what people have to say about them. And their songs, even if they sound the same sometimes, are always extremely uplifting to me, so I feel their emotion in their playing more than Jimi Hendrix or even SRV, now you see just how subjective music really is.

I agree 100%. I listen to their music just because of this posts saying they are crap. I listen to 2 musics and really enjoy. I will not buy their CD right now, but its really possible that I do it when I visit big city CD store.

There are thousands of music bands that sucks live.

I read a lot of people start to learn Nirvana songs... dont you remember Nirvana in Rock´n´Rio? Kurt could not single, he could not remember the lyrics (and read too, he barely stand on the stage). I love Nirvana. It does not change a thing!

I love Weezer, and some videos of the live really sucks!
System of a down too, I am fan #1, and there is videos where they are REALLY bad.

Some of the biggest bands suck live like the red hot chilli peppers or system of a down. Both bands are sometimes terrible live. The two DragonForce shows I've been to were great live; music and entertainment! Guitars are not always on the spot but hey it's extremely difficult to play those solo's live while posing...

Dragonforce play what sounds good to them. They play fast because thats what they enjoy.

I personally like Dragonforce, and I will go to see them live this October and experience it myself instead of watching videos on youtube.
