There are many things that could cause your sound to cut in and out. most often it is a bad instrument cable. I would start a process of elimination by connecting my guitar straight to an amp. If it still cuts out then that narrows the problem down to 3 things. The instrument cable , a problem with your guitars wiring, or a problem with your amp. First thing to do is try a different instrument cable. If it still cuts out, I would try another amp, if it still cuts out after that then the problem is going to be in the guitars wiring. possibly the instrument jack where you plug in. this is probably the second most likely reason for the signal cutting in and out. I hope this helps and it is something simple like a bad cable or bad connection on the guitars input, those are easy and inexpensive to fix.
