A E A E A A A E I'm guessing? I use the open C tuning on a 6 string so, I tried to figure it out based on that one smile.gif

almost cosmin, almost smile.gif you forgot the major third , that i use . A- E- AA- C#C#- E- A
its more easy to play slide, cause of the major chords you get when you play, and easy to lick aswell..
im going to post more slide music with my trusted guitar, so, subscribe to my channel and you will see how easy it is hehe tongue.gif

Hah! Thanks man - yeah, it makes sense wink.gif I was using the CGCGCC or CGCGCE version of the open C tuning. The first one I got from Alter Bridge's 'Open your eyes' song, which I had to learn for a review of my PRS Tremonti.

I subbed to your channel mate! I love your playing! Tell us, what should an aspiring slide player consider before delving into this sort of playing?

i love the way miles kennedy plays slide XD Alter bridge got many cool songs in open tuning..

if someone would like to play this sort of playing i recomend a guitar that has a wide neck, thick strings, i use on the high string 17 , cause then you don get that buzzing sound where the string is so lose that the slide touches the neck.. you want tension smile.gif
also recomend that you action is low from the top of your neck, that way you can play fast, and high action down on the neck for more slide playing smile.gif also, you want a thick string on the low string , you want that steady bass sound when you play smile.gif

Thank you for the input man!

What about the tunings - which are the most used ones and what guitars are the most popular and affordable in respect to slide playing, in your opinion? This is definitely a very nice version of Traveling Riverside Blues, that Myles is playing live:

yeah god question, i see many use open G in Country .... But for my use , i like the deep sound of a guitar, cause i only play solo guitar i want the lowest string to be my bass smile.gif so now i fired my bassplayer ;P .. so i like

Open C : C-G-C-E-G-C
Open D : D-A-D-F#-A-D

And ofc open A wink.gif

About the guitars, i use Cole Clarks, (great pickup systems Btw) AND Takamines...
but it is also cool when you use Resonator Guitar like Miles kennedy plays smile.gif you get that old Bluesy Vintage Vibe..

Have you experimented with different open tunings yourself ?

Thanks again for the input man smile.gif

I have played with CGCFGC - the one step lower version of DADGAD and with the CGCGCC - that sort of open C tuning that Alter Bridge are using on 'Open Your eyes'. I also want to learn this song:

Out of what I have figured out, the tuning is C G C G C E - as I could transpose it to a 6 string guitar and still make justice smile.gif Let me know how you like this one. And about the one step lower version of DADGAD, I have a Chrismassy lesson here at GMC Which you might enjoy:

Do you use open tunings without the slide?

Hey mate smile.gif Glad to know you like it and yes - I think so too! It's clear that the possibilities are amazing and the sounds are really to my liking - I am a big fan of the Irish/Celtic traditional music and more or less, all these tunings are pretty much sounding like that smile.gif

About Ocean - we can't make video lessons based on songs belonging to other artists, due to copyright infringement, but if I get to learn it, maybe I'll shoot a slow video or so for those who would like to learn it and add some comments on the side regarding the techniques used, scales and such. We'll see how learning it goes, first things first.

Do you also have other audio recordings? I'd be curious to hear smile.gif
