I believe those are folders. or they might be suitcases IDK.

and if you scroll down to the bottom of the page, it tells you what they are.

like the red folders are a Hot Topic. etc.

If they are solid there are new threads onthat board if they are greyed out there are not. Red means hot topic and there are others that I can;t remember., There is a list at the bottom somewhere.
