Hey GMC,

As some of you know, we re-structured the VB section a while back and well, to be honest, I don't think it is caching much interest from you guys. There are a lot of you on here who like to record and enjoy the collabs and such so we thought it was time to ask YOU what you would like to see out of this section. smile.gif

We would like to hear all suggestions and comments on what you think will make this area of GMC more exiting.

Instructors, you are more than welcome to comment here as well and would love to hear your feedback. I think it would be quite cool to see a group of you guys get together and jam! cool.gif

So bring on the suggestions! smile.gif

Cheers,
Steve

I belive that the bigget problem with the VB is that some are more active then others. I have been part in two VB and the first one went on fine untill our band leader wanted to take a break. I joined a new band and nothing really happened with that band and i rarelly see anyone of them in here anymore.....

I belive for a band to work all members of the band must dedicat the amount of time necesarry for something to happened...

I would very much like to participate in a band and i am willing to dedicate alot of time for it

Yeh I think the thing is is that there is people who are active a lot and want to get things done quickly, and people who aren't so active. It makes it difficult to get things done as a band when some people are less active than others. If there is a way it could work though then that would be cool.

I agree with what you guys have said about the activity and dedication to a virtual band. I think this is one of the key elements as well to keep a it going.

to be honest it has to be treated as you were playing with a "real" band.. organize specific days to meet up, practice and discuss and whatever you would do with your "real" bandmates..

other people are counting on you and one really should treat them as real bandmembers, because thats what they really are.. smile.gif

I agree with members opinion here. I got idea today while chatting to them about it... There should perhaps be some minimal requirement in order to join. That should at least be ability to meet and talk with band members in GMC chat room once a day for like 30 minutes or more. That way bend members will be in touch every day and will work trough things more.
Just my opinion smile.gif

i dont think it have to be everyday, and requirements for each band could/should be different.. but there should be at least one or two days in the week where you meet up and have band meetings etc..

the requirements should be made from either the "leader" wanting to make a new band, or the group figures them out together through chats and compromises

I agree with you Zion but it seems the more comprosises happen, the more unorganized it turns smile.gif
Even if its once a week (doesn't have to be every day like you said) its progress as long as everybody is there working towards the same goal.

I think establishing rules from the start and sticking to them is one of the key things. Other key thing is what skenny said - communication. If bandmates are honest, everything will work out very good, anything needed to be said, has to be said straight away and being honest about it. It's the only way..

The thing about being really stupid, is that there are a zillion ways to be a moron. There are usually several ways to be intelligent, given a situation, but it is a small finite number. But there are always a zillion ways to be to blithering idiot. So finding a new way to have the intellect of an artichoke is nothing to be proud of really, it is easy to do.

So true... To bad im still an artichoke haha

I think VB's need more than just a section on the forum but something like the REC programme where you can post up your band for approval then have it featured on the site using some web 2.0 java magic, and much like groups on facebook the band leader can assign the rights to each member of a band, also when a band makes a song they can upload it on there "VB page"

I think this is a great suggestion, well and truly noted, thanks! smile.gif

Depending on my free time in London for the next 3-4 weeks, I believe I can be quite active on GMC... smile.gif Now, I'm just wondering... Is it possible to hear yourself playing when playing on a guitar connected to a Line 6 POD Studio GX directly connecting to a computer ? If not, jamming out of my country will be difficult as the amplifier would have to come along, which I try to avoid... smile.gif

Please reply here, or send me a PM, I may just join the metal band, but don't be surprised if nothing happens... It's quite a dynamic holiday I'm on at the moment ! biggrin.gif
