We all have different playing and working environments. First check out Zsolt's new lesson, "Wisdom - Live Forever More", and then post a reply to today's topic.

Do you work better under pressure? Can you create solos, riffs, chord progressions, and or lyrics under "the gun"?

That's a No! from my side...pressure kills my creativity, usually cool riffs and solos come to my mind when I start playing around with the guitar with no pressure whatsoever...

Good question... I'm not sure if I work better under pressure or not. I think not.. more time gives me space to always come up with the absolute best I can do rather than play what easily comes to hand.

The first time I ever went into a recording studio was with an indie band I'd 'joined'. We were recording a song I barely knew.. I had to make a solo up in the studio before I recorded my bit. That was quite nerve wracking.. I'll try and find it and post it one day ! tongue.gif

I think I work better with deadlines. It is easy to slack off if you have no specific deadline (placed by someone other than you) to do things.

I would have to say that deadlines and expectations are good for me because things become a bit more focused and purposeful. Whereas total freedom can make things be all over the place?

But I guess it varies from time to time.

It depends if the pressure is coming from me or others...if I am over thinking every thing to make sure I do it right for those listening, I usually screw up more.

I can usually figure out something say if the other guitarist strings break or doesn't show up...LOL..

But of course I cannot shred like you all yet...LOL...so the pressure doesn't get that hi...

Yeah, Daniel has a point there, without deadlines, things can get confusing quickly. With deadlines, there is more focused work on the subject, and the more work is being made, chances are bigger that something interesting will come up smile.gif I was always a person that works best under pressure (although it can get stressful).
