The practice of giving fake names at the bar has been around longer than I have. Originally, it was a practice used to keep potential conquests from being able to contact you after the fact. I, on the other hand, just think it's hilarious and constantly use a fake name at the bar with strangers. I enjoy seeing just how much I can get away with.

Here are some of my favorites:

Tad Humphrey
I used to use Chaz until blades of glory came out, it was only Chaz though.
Bruce Blanton
Dart DuMonde

And my crown jewel could also double as a porn name, no profanity involved in it but I'll hold out on posting it but to give you an idea.

Famous Country/Western Star First Name Second part of a Children of Bodom song last name (it's one word but 2 words mashed into 1, the second word is it). If you don't feel dirty saying it, you guessed incorrectly.

What fake names do you guys & gals pass out at the bar?

Yes, it was meant to be extremely vague, trust me. Separate, it's not particularly offensive, but when you put em together their synergies skyrocket and you feel like you need to take a shower.

Well you rarely give out last names, and it only really gets funny if you hang out long enough to divulge last names.

The only one where I begin getting any suspicion at all off the bat is Dart DuMonde, since no one is really french in my area, it makes my backstory highly suspect. "My mother is french and Dart is short for Dartanian." Tad is somewhat common, although rare. Bruce, yeah that's fine, ti doesn't shine until combined with the last name, then I can knock over buildings.

It's basically just an exercise in creativity. You can create a whole fake persona.

On vacation last year, I was totally stupid (and drunk) and told weird stories about my name. For example, I was Los Stefanos with japanese parents, but I lived in France and recently went to live in the USA blink.gif
There was a guy who told us to come in his disco but we didn't want to go there, so we told him we are french (I have french in school but I reall suck at it), then the guy told us "wait, no problem, I ask my boss", his boss came and suddenly begun to speak french, I only understood 3 words "pas de problème", I probably had an experssion like that wacko.gif
We answered in english and went to the pub tongue.gif

I faked as a Dutchman (here in Sweden) once. I was hanging with a buddy from the Netherlands so he talked Dutch and I didn't know the language but I could make it sound as if I did. I appeared as Michael Van Den Hof, an exciting foreign young man who had his last night in town since I was flying back the next day.
It was nothing planned, I just started speaking english with a girl since I had been bad luck all night and wanted to try something different, made things up along the way, then I just had to find my friend and tell him - I'm Dutch now, speak to me in dutch from now on! tongue.gif

Imagine the advantage I had hearing the girls talk privately between themselves! ohmy.gif wink.gif

That's nothing I'd think of today but I was in my mid 20's so it long forgotten and I've forgiven myself for being a bad boy laugh.gif

Haha

After a rugby game one night, after the social (was a noon kick off the social was done at 6 or so) we were at dinner at a little sidewalk cafe called Ribs and Blues and we were pretending we were french. My buddy is Argentian but often gets mistaken for being European as he does fit what many Americans think a European looks like. So we pretended we were French. Neither of us speak hardly any french, but we understood it enough to make it at least sound like we did, plus the place we were at, I doubt anyone could have called our bluff. So we staged a gibberish argument going in and out of French until we both stood up and would blurt something half in english, half in fake french then would slap the other across the face as if we'd just been insulted. And we would take turns going back and forth doing the same thing, causing quite a scene. We'd been flirting with our waitress earlier so she knew we were just screwing around and let us do it. So after about 15 minutes of this and we both had sore cheeks/palms we shook hands, exchanged fake french pardons and paid our tab and left. Absolutely no reason to do what we did other than it was amusing to us and we were getting ready to go to the bar afterwards. When asked by a group of girls what we were so passionately arguing about (bear in mind, we're both still pretty much wearing our kit, short shorts and T shirts and our ugly gold/black bumblee striped socks) he threw out that I said poetry was the most noble and expressive form of art while he contested that painting was indeed the paragon of human creativity. I couldn't take it any more and started laughing as we made a hasty retreat.

Silly stuff like that is why you use fake names, and that was where Dart DuMonde was born.
